show and tell...

Even though we don't observe daylight savings in Hong Kong, this Monday morning was still rough.

Good Monday morning! What do you have on your schedule this week? I am trying to cram everything into the couple weeks before Spring Break. Not the best method, but we'll see how it goes.  Before I head off to attempt our Bali visas here's a couple snippets I thought you might enjoy...

  • The humidity's slowly rising here in The Kong- I feel my my hair slipping every day. I was considering keratin treatment. But I think I'll experiment with salt spray and some artfully placed bobbies first. How do you handle summer hair?
  • I must admit I finished House of Cards last night. Can you blame me? (It rained every day last week.) It's definitely not along the same lines as the first two seasons. I have mixed feelings. I think now its time to find a new series. The one by Tina Fey maybe?
  • Are you on Instagram? And are you guilty of these Instagram decor cliches? I think I've only committed one. Can you guess which one?
  • I'm one of those people with enough perfume to wear a different scent fluctuating with my mood. I haven't collected a new one for awhile. I have an itch. One of the sales ladies gave me a sample of a new diptyque fragrance and now I can't remember what it is? Grrr.
  • Need a smile break? Check out Carly Rae's new hit video with Tom Hanks. Yes, Hanksy.
Ok, I must be off. The Indonesian Consulate only accepts applications in the morning. Have a good Monday!

show and tell....

Is it Monday again? Wow, last week was our first full of school and I think I spent the majority of it running errands again like crazy. Above is a picture I snapped while stuck in traffic. Once you get out of the island's skyscrapers there is a beautiful Asian countryside.

* When I'm on the MTR heading to the island, I sometimes find comfort in zoning out with a game. I'm embarrassed to admit I've become mildly addicted to Two Dots. Anyone else playing Two Dots and if so can you pretty please help me get past level 82?

* There are some instagram feeds that are just ugh. Seriously, I'm over looking at people's meals. But one that deserves following is the j crew gingham shirt instagram feed. I don't see alot of the shirt here in Hong Kong as the men here have a different uniform. But I know it's everywhere back in the states. It's worth a chuckle. Also you can follow along in my Hong Kong adventure via my instagram.

* Now having two children with food issues. One being dairy intolerant and another newly diagnosed Celiac. Children's allergies are not as common in Asia as they are in the states. It's a new normal for us to be grilling our Asian waiters. One once told us dairy was a form of gluten! So we all carry a card in our wallets describing Celiac Disease in Cantonese. It's been a saving grace. We've also relied on this Sassy gluten free guide to Hong Kong as a starting point as well.

* Hong Kong is such a contrast. Metropolis on the main island and lush gardens in the northern territories. Fan Ho has released old photos of Hong Kong spotlighting rickshaws, coolies, and junks.  They are currently on display in the east (Pottinger Hotel) and the west (San Francisco Terminal 2).

happy Monday!

So glad it's Monday...

Well, it's Monday again & after a rainy Saturday combined with a bad cold I'm back with a weekend wrap up...

Loving this necklace even though it was parodied here
Realized one afternoon is not nearly enough time to clear out said boy's closet let alone entire bedroom.
Was reminded that April showers really bring May flowers.
I'm slow to the game, but completely obsessed with Mr. Don Draper.
Overjoyed that Mr. Hubs is returning from here after well over a week.
I am going to try harder to do the May photo a day on instagram. (I'm ChristineNavin)
This father's family photos will put any one's to shame. Just check.

Feeling better & ready to see my honey this week.

love,
Christine
